Integrating resting, pausing, self-caring (new word!)
All too often we are waiting to give ourselves permission to rest or pause. Why is it so hard to integrate pausing and resting into our lives? If we did, we wouldn’t get exhausted, wouldn’t get weary, wouldn’t get just plain ol’ “worn out.” We all know I’m self-employed so I can basically set my own pace and schedule - and guess what? I still get worn out, I still get weary and exhausted. Why? More and more I’m beginning to see how much of not giving ourselves permission to rest and pause is a mindset. There’s a part of our conditioning that says “keep moving, keep pushing, just do that one more thing and then you can stop.” So often that “one more thing” pushes us over the edge or becomes “a few more things” or causes us to miss our window of rest.
No more - enough is enough. I’m changing my mind - literally. I’m integrating rest into my lifestyle as part of my self-care. It may look like delaying a non-urgent text, enjoying my hot tea for a few more minutes in my favorite chair instead of at my desk, eating lunch outside, leaving or arriving 15 minutes later by design, or maybe it’s just saying “no, sorry, that’s not part of my plan for myself today.” (This is my latest boundary-language! It’s been landing well😉!)
These may look like baby-steps, but that’s how integration works - with baby steps in the direction of where you want to be, eventually the steps become the actions where integration is achieved and the next thing you know: resting, pausing, and self-caring has become part of how you do you.
So, I’m giving myself permission to integrate what I know is best for me. I'm starting with my June Summer Permission Slip: “I give myself permission to go at a slower pace and trust that it will all work out just fine.” I’d love to know what YOUR permission slip says, and I invite you to share it with me and our community of conscious, connected, and courageous leaders. BONUS! Respond by June 11 and get entered into a free drawing to win a ticket to Self-Care Summer Workshop.
I hope that you download the R.E.S.T image as a gift to you from me. Place it where you will see it - heck print more than one if you need extra reminders! Feel free to share this with your team and colleagues - let them know you support their REST too. As leaders, when we give our teams permission to rest, it helps them give themselves permission. Be that leader.
Cheers to your integration of what serves you,

Meditation Retreat
“The Sacred Pause: A Leadership & Meditation Retreat to BE More”
This retreat is the gateway to SELf-Transformation for School & Systemic Transformation. Retreats like this are for leaders who KNOW the power of what a retreat can do to support us in our leadership. The great leaders know that retreats serve their leadership. We take this time “in service of” those we serve. We are never our best leadership selves when we are not clear or not energetic. Retreats energize, retreats provide clarity. Retreat.
There are no longer 20 spots because folks are courageously claiming them! As of now, there is still room for YOU.

Join Me at the Summer Self-Care Sessions
June 21-23
I'm pleased to announce that I’ll be speaking at The Self-Care Sessions, held on June 21-23 by Mindful.org.
Making sure our own needs are met is as important as taking care of those we love most. Self-care is the practice of taking an active role in protecting our own well-being, pursuing happiness, and having the ability, tools, and resources to respond to periods of stress so that they don’t result in imbalance and lead to a health crisis.
You deserve to be supported while working toward meeting your own emotional and physical needs. Join us for three days of interactive workshops with expert mindfulness teachers, inspiring video sessions, guided meditations and so much more! The investment is only $39!
I'll be exploring self-care as a lifestyle commitment—at home, at work, and everywhere in between. Register here.
